I say kitten with parentheses because she’s a year old this month and she’s gotten pretty big. She’s a calico and we had her for about 8 months.
A week ago we got our first pup, an eight week old rat terrier(9w now) He’s sweet and smart but really feisty. They have gotten along WAY better than I expected. I was worried about getting a cat first, then a dog.
Anyway they have been playing a lot the last couple days but kind of rough. They tumble around on the floor together. He usually initiates the play but she has a cat tower and usually just jump up somewhere slightly higher than him if she doesn’t want to deal with him. She also rolls around on her belly in front of him when she wants to play so I figure that means she is welcoming him to play. He’s always the one instigating.
Today I noticed they were being tougher that usual, tumbling and biting at each other but neither of them really cry and they keep going back to each other.
I’m not sure if they are just playing around or if this is something I need to stop now before it’s an issue. I kind of figure if she doesn’t want to play she could just go away from him.
Is this normal for kitties and puppies?
