Really weird flea problems with my cat?

Hi so I'm looking for any advice on my situation with fleas and my cat! (Long story sorry!)

Background info: Only pet that I have, he is an indoor cat 24/7, I have not had friends over that have pets in my apartment since I got him last August, and he hasn't seen another animal since January and that dog does not have fleas.

So a few weeks ago I found fleas on my cat. Noticed him cleaning and scratching himself a lot. Went through his fur and sure enough saw a flea by just parting his fur with my fingers. Next day went to the store got flea medicine (advantage 2), flea comb and flea collar (which is now discarded because it did not work one bit). Went through him with a flea comb, killed all the fleas off the comb by dropping them in a bowl of warm water, vinegar and dawn dish soap, applied the medicine on him and didn't realize that I was supposed to part his fur when applying the medicine (first time pet owner please forgive me) and then called it a day.

Next few days I spent cleaning my apartment (2 rooms: wood floored kitchen/living room and a carpeted bedroom with a wood floor bathroom attached). I mean like bleaching the floors and scrubbing everywhere. Vacuumed my furniture then proceeded to clean all of it, vacuumed my carpet a few times over (saw several fleas in the vacuum and threw out the contents of the vacuum every time), etc. Even did baking soda/salt treatments on my floors and other things he usually sits on for about two days (slept on my couch lol). Washed a majority of my clothes and bedsheets. During this time I kept him out of my bedroom. About 4 days after applying his medicine wrong, I kept seeing fleas on him (duh) when brushing through him so I decided to give him baths in dish soap, warm water and vinegar. This definitely helped a lot and then a week 1/2 after applying the medicine wrong, I gave him another dose but did it correctly this time (10 days ago). After two days I let him back in my bedroom w/ the carpet and I definitely saw a decrease in fleas on him, however it did not fully work. I was still finding a flea here and there every other day or so on him. After about a week of still finding the random flea here and there I went to the vet with him. Vet checked him out, said he was perfectly fine and the advantage 2 isn't the strongest thing out there but it should kill off the population after some time. After this I went to Walmart, got raid pest spray that says it kills fleas on contact and most other pests. Sprayed it all over my carpets, window sill, door frames, etc. Stayed out of my bedroom for a day til that dried up.

Earlier yesterday I was combing through him like I usually do and found an explosion of fleas on him (about 12 or so before I gave him a bath). Called the vet and went and picked up Revolution Plus. Waited til he was completely dry to apply it to his skin. Vet even said that it was safe to give him the medicine bc it had been about 10 days since the last one. He also gave me Siphotrol Plus 2 premise spray. Vet said spraying this all over my apartment should do the trick. I sprayed all over my apartment, threw out my old bedsheets, did more laundry, and kept my cat out of the bedroom. Didn't comb my cat out today until about 23 hours after applying the medicine. Definitely found some dead ones, but still found some (about 4) kicking around and what not. Should the revolution have killed them all off about 24 hours after???

Don't know what to think. Can't find any source of fleas in my apartment. Even put white socks on and shuffled around my carpet for 5 mins and couldn't find any of them on the white socks. Having an exterminator come out but my apartment building probably won't be able to get them out for 5-6 days. Currently keeping him out of my bedroom. Have washed his cat bed and any blanket he has sat on in hot water and soap. Source of fleas may be coming from window/window sill as he sits on that a lot and there was definitely flea dust when I washed it and sprayed yesterday, but also thinking that could just be from him laying there. Possibly from the back door as well?? He sits next to it and looks out from it a lot.

Quick question: If my cat is on flea medicine, even in a flea infected apartment, shouldn't the population eventually die out with no animal to feed off of? I got one bite when it was first happening but haven't been bitten in the past two-ish weeks.

ANY SUGGESTIONS OR HELP WILL BE APPRECIATED!
