Diarrhea in cat

Please note, I am seeking veterinary treatment, but with Covid19 we are doing a lot of 'try this first' without the surgery actually seeing him.

I was wondering if any of you have any advice at all.

I have a 5yo male cat. He is indoors and the only cat in the household. On saturday he began doing two poos a day (usually he is one poo per day, or every other day). The poos were slightly mushy but still formed. On sunday his poo was the same, but the Sunday night poo had blood on it. Phoned the vet on Monday, and booked a phone appointment for Tuesday. On Monday his poos were similar to the weekend. I switched his diet to boiled chicken and rice.

From Monday onwards his poos have been twice a day, but totally liquid. Sometimes with blood, sometimes without. The vet gave us 3 days of a probiotic, and then 5 days of an antibiotic to give if that doesn't work.

He is acting fairly normally otherwise - eating, engaging, and playing. But it has been 5 days now with this funny tummy. I don't know what this might mean, or what to do.

Any advice would be appreciated!

TLDR: 5 days of mushy/runny/sometimes bloody poos.
