My older cat got a laceration near his tail. The vet thinks it could be an abscess. They shaved the area, cleaned it and he's on antibiotics. The problem lies with my Chihuahua. He is very much obsessed with the cat, or more so, his wound. He chases him around the house non stop, whining non stop when he can't reach him. My cat hates every other animal that is on this earth so he's growling at him. I've tried to keep them separated as much as possible. But why is he so obsessed with it!? It is decent sized so it's going to be a bit before it's healed. I feel bad for the cat and wish I could figure out a way to get the dog uninterested, but he loses all sense when the cat is around. Nothing matters but that, and he will even miss a meal to be next to him. I'm guessing this is normal? He likely wants to lick it? I'm about at my witts end with it and any feedback is very much welcome.
