For the past month, my moms dog has had a minor rash on his belly, along with a dry thinning spot from scratching over the years. My mom works with someone who was once a vet tech, or is still a vet tech. She came, and squeezed my moms digs glands, and cut his nails. She definitely knew what she was doing, and seemed very proffessional. After look at the dogs rash, she said shes pretty certain its allergies, and she thinks that we should try a certain dosage of benadryl (forgot how much) and wash the rash with head and shoulders no more then once a week, and see if it helps. Is it safe taking advice from someone who use to be a vet tech, about giving my moms dog benadryl? The reason my mom had her look at her dog instead if the actual vet, is because she cant afford to take him to the vet, and wont let me.
