how do i teach my cat to use the litter box?

i got a cat a while ago and i basically trained her to do it in the bathroom, it was a little messy but easily cleaned thankfully. i decided to get her a litter box so things can be more civilized but she's not using it at all. i even changed the location nearby to where she usually likes to sleep to it can be easily accessible to her but she's still refusing to use it, is there's any possible way i can teach her to eliminate in the box?
