My dog is a big Shepherd mix who has always been gentle with my cat but is easily excitable and keeps trying to shove her nose on the kitten to smell her, causing her to panic. My dog has also been jumping up on me when I'm holding the kitten in my arms, causing her to panic and lash out at my dog.
On the other hand, my cat is very curious and keeps wanting to come in my room (where the kitten is staying for now), so I let him in and he sniffs around but the second he lays eyes on the kitten he begins to hiss and growl. This was surprising because he's always been such a gentle cat that this was the first time I've ever ears him his or growl!
So how should I go about introducing them, given these circumstances?
