My husband and I have a daughter, and brought her home to our household of 2 dogs and a blind cat. Everyone coped well, all the animals loved her and it was lovely. Then our daughter starting crawling etc. And our cat did NOT take well to this. She is peeing in so many places all over the house - closets, rugs, on cabinet shelves, you name it. She does sometimes poop outside the box too now, but that’s much more uncommon. She does still use her litter box, but not always.
The cat is completely blind, has been since she was about 4 weeks old. So loud noises scare her often, and she is all around more anxious than other cats simply because of her handicap. But she has always done really well with moves, our dogs, any changes. She’s a resilient little kitty.
Since the pee problems started, we have taken her to the vet twice to rule out any and all medical issues that could be causing this and both times she has had a completely clean bill of health. We have tried sectioning off rooms in the house where only she can get to so she can have peace and privacy. We have tried different litter boxes, multiple litter boxes, giving her lots of extra love, a new cat condo in one of her kitty-only rooms. None of it is helping.
Does anyone have experience with this? It’s such a unique situation since she is blind and I can’t imagine the stress and anxiety she experiences every day and it breaks my heart. We are at a loss, short of pilling her with kitty Prozac every day or rehoming her which we absolutely don’t want to do.
