Hi,
I recently adopted a lovely 2yo cat from a shelter. I live alone in a small 1-room apartment with a 20sqm courtyard in which I sometimes let her in. It is in a 1st floor and has tall fences so there is no chance of cat getting suicidal.
The problem is that, due to coronavirus, confinement and all of this stuff, I'm thinking of getting back to my parent's house (around 600 km away from where I'm now). They told me that they're OK with bringing the cat with me. The problem is that they live in a 7th floor with many windows and a balcony. My idea is to put mosquito nets in order to get away the cat from the windows, but I still worried about it as there are a few windows in which I cannot put one of these.
My cat is shy and somewhat fearful, I don't think that she would throw herself away from the window, but these creatures are kinda unpredictable. Also, she loves lying down the ledge of my window. My parent's house has some ledges, but are unprotected (with mosquito net she wouldn't be able to access them).
Sooo, I'm not really sure about what to do here. Have you had any experiences with cats living in tall buildings? Are they likely to throw off from a 7th floor?
