Debating between a pet rat or a pet guinea pig for a college ESA

Hi all! So I have a long history with depression and anxiety and I am having a hard time in college being away from my dog. So I am considering getting a pet to help with my mental health. I don’t feel that it’s fair to bring a dog to college so I have decided between a guinea pig or a rat. Here are my parameters •money isn’t an issue. I have a budget for my pet axolotl. Additionally, I have money saved up to cover college expensive and will be working over breaks. • I currently don’t have a a car on campus but can get one if I want to • I want a pet that won’t smell. I’m weary in rats because I’ve heard that they leave a trim if pee everywhere they go. •I want a pet I can train •I want a pet that I can pet and snuggle. The ESA guinea pig is currently with us in an outdoor movie night being held by her owner. • I want a pet that will interact with me •finally, I would prefer to not have a huge cage but I can make a big cage work if necessary.
