Hey everyone,
I moved into my first apartment recently after graduating and starting work. I thought it would be a good time to finally buy or adopt a pet. However, I wanted some guidance on what pets would be ideal for me given my situation that I’ll outline below.
I live in Manhattan so apartments aren’t really huge, I have about 900 square feet total with two others roommates. We all work the same sort of job and work about 50-60 hours a week (10-12 hour shifts). I don’t really expect them to contribute too much to taking care of the pet. As a result, I want a pet that I can really give my full attention to when I’m back from work. I ideally also don’t want it to be too bored when I’m at work, although things will be a bit easier working from home. I’m mostly thinking about getting a cat (dogs wouldn’t be feasible with my work hours) but I’m unsure if that would be fair in the case that it needs more attention than people say cats do. I’m open to any pet suggestions! So far friends have suggested a rabbit, turtle, lizard, or even a snake. My main goal is to have a pet that I can interact with.
Lastly, I could really use advice on how to make sure, whatever pet I get, has a very pleasant experience
Thank you in advance!
