So a week ago we took in 4 former feral kittens. Right now they are in a pen in the living room. They don't really like me or my roommate (having a little bit of progress with that though), but they are IN LOVE with my cat. My cat's 3 years old and a former stray himself. Every time they see him they rush to the fence and will cry and reach out to him like he's a Beatle and it's the 1960's.
Now my cat seems interested in them, but only sort of. He'll go around the pen (and they'll follow him), and he's gone up and sniffed them a couple times, but doesn't really hang around them much. I'm not forcing him to interact with them but will pet him or feed him close enough that they can see him. I've even tried to get them to chase a toy at the edge of the fence.
Is there any way I could make him more interested in them? I feel it would be an asset to have an older cat to interact with even through the bars until we can let them roam free more.
