My friend adopted a dog a few years ago from her neighbor because the dog was handicapped and the neighbor did not want her.
Pitbull / Jack Russell, very small for being half pit. Head wobbles, back legs don't move. Her tail still wags a lot. Her dog has had these problems since it was born, but said the symptoms get gradually worse with time. The dog also looks very skinny but that may be from atrophy, because I know my friend feeds her dog regularly.
I asked her what is wrong with her, she said she doesn't know exactly, her back legs don't work much. Her dog drags itself around and has callouses on her legs from doing so. My friend picks the dog up to bring her outside or move her around the house. I suspect the dog has never been vaccinated or had any shots. I'm not 100% sure but my friend lives with her family and they never go to the doctor or vets, so it's likely.
I asked what vets have told her, she said she doesn't have the money for a vet and figures the problem is neurological and unable to get better with medicine. She says her dog is disabled but still lives a happy life.
Anyone know what could be wrong with it? I recently watched a video where a dog had tetanus and couldn't move and made a full recovery after diagnosis. This is likely a different situation but i thought I'd give it a shot if her dog could have a better life from some random internet advice. Thanks!
