I have a neutered male cat who is mostly an indoor cat but does like to sit on our porch during the day (supervised). He's 7 years old and has lived with us in the same house for at least 6 of those years. This past year there seems to be an uptick in stray cats in the neighborhood or cats that are allowed to roam, specifically female cats. My cat becomes very defensive and upset when these cats come up on our porch and right to the door. He will stare them down through the window/door and howl and hiss but the stays don't ever seem to leave unless one of us intervenes. I want to know if there is a way to ward off these cats from coming by our house, especially right up on to the porch.
