My cat is now 9 years old and a lot of bad stuff has been happening.
My cat began to gain weight when we first got her. She was 1 when we first rescued her and she’s been obese for a while now, and the dry food we were feeding her caused bleeding in her feces and on the floor. Aside from that, she was a very loving and cuddly cat. She was always purring and affectionate.
Recently, we decided to give her the wet food we feed our other cat instead, in the hopes that the bleeding would stop and she could lose weight. The bleeding stopped and she seemed to be getting healthier for the first few months.
In late July, she started coughing and throwing up white foam / clear liquid onto the floor. We put her to bed on a pillow and brought her water. She drank but she wouldn’t eat.
Now she eats a little and drinks a little but is otherwise lethargic. She is no longer throwing up or coughing up anything. She’s way lighter than before but her breathing seems audibly heavy. She doesn’t purr either, unless we brush her with her favourite brush.
We can’t afford a vet. My family is in financial trouble and we desperately want to help her but we can’t afford to take her to anyone.
My cat has gotten me through some extremely tough times. It’s scaring me to death how differently she’s acting. It’s like she isn’t even the same cat.
I just want to know what I can do to help her. Is it the food? Please, if anyone could help, I’d deeply appreciate it.
