4 days ago, I took my dog to the vet after he started vomiting and feeling abnormally hot. He also had yellow diarrhea. He was hospitalized for observation after they confirmed he had a 40 degree C fever.
They ran a bunch of tests (parvo, canine coronavirus, blood tests, etc.) and all came out negative. His kidney and liver tests indicated they were healthy as well. All he had was a low platelet count and high granulocyte. Apparently, it was just gastroenteritis. They put him on IV and didn’t feed him until yesterday to let his stomach calm down. He didn’t vomit or have diarrhea after, so they called me to take him home.
I thought he’d be okay and things would be normal now, but now he’s suddenly feeling warm again (although not as hot as before), constantly shivering, lethargic, and won’t eat anything. His poop is also soft, but not liquid, and brown.
Should I take him back to the vet? Or is it normal for a dog to feel a bit unwell after being discharged?
