I’m at a loss. I don’t know what to do at this point. I have tried every tip I could find online and from my dog trainer on how to stop my dog from peeing in the house I honestly don’t know what else to do.
Background: I adopted her in June. She is completely housebroken, that isn’t the issue. However there has always been a power struggle between her and my roommates cat. She keeps marking her territory in the hallway and on the 2nd floor stairwell (it’s a 3 story townhome, 2nd floor is common space, 3rd floor is bedrooms). All the sprays and deterrents and potty breaks in the world wouldn’t stop her. So I got a baby gate for that stairwell at the advice from my trainer. Now she can’t escape there and pee while I’m cooking in the kitchen or doing something.
It had been going really well. There had been no accidents on that stairwell and she had been enjoying her time on the 2nd floor a lot. Until today. I don’t know how, I don’t know when, but the 1st floor stairs now have pee on them. I honestly don’t know when she did it because she was next to me in the kitchen the whole time and only left once to look outside on the balcony and I didn’t even see it when I took her outside for her nightly walk, I only saw it when we came back. My roommates are understandably getting sick of it. I genuinely don’t know what to do!
