My cat is a 14 year old male cat, recently someone moved in with a 8 month old female. He used to go outside pretty much everyday but outside of running downstairs at three in the morning to sniff the front room he hasn't left the upstairs in over three weeks ( since the new cat moved in ). We haven't really been trying to force them together figuring they'd eventually figure it out but the new cat doesn't go upstairs and my cat doesn't go downstairs so they barley even see each other. Should we force more interaction? Or just keep waiting it out? Any other ideas?
Also while he's been an outdoor cat his whole life, I kinda just want to turn him into an indoor cat at this point. Could it work? He seems perfectly happy upstairs and not going out and I haven't really been comfortable letting him out since we lost his sister to a car a couple years ago. He got beaten up by a neighbors cat the night before the new cat moved in which I think kinda hurt things with the new cat. Any advice on this front?
