Throwaway cause I’m not sure if the person I’m talking about uses Reddit.
My relative’s dog is staying near us but she doesn’t come to take care of her dog at all, even though she’s kept her since she was a puppy. Her dog is now older (maybe around 6 years old) and bleeds around the eyes. It’s not from the tear ducts but it seems to be like a ring around the eyes. She also has dandruff (?) and other possible issues. I could understand if it was due to financial concerns and COVID, but I’ve sent pictures of her dog’s condition to her before and I haven’t received a reply.
I want to take her to the vet, but I’m not familiar with the process, if I would need papers or need to be the owner, etc. I’m also worried about the cost - I’m not currently able to pay $200+ for care. I anticipate this being way more than a general checkup, she would probably need medication and possibly more in depth care.
How much are vet costs, either for a general checkup or for specialist treatment (specifically skin issues)?? I understand that vet costs are widely variable but I just want to get an idea.
Also, if anyone has any tips on how to take care of a golden retriever, even if it’s not medical related, I’d appreciate it! Or any advice on how to go about this situation?
