My cat Sevi is about three years old and as of late has been getting a little...um, fluffy.
I feed both of my cats one cup of Nutro twice a day. This has been plenty for them in the past, but Sevi has always been one to beg for food and eat practice anything. The other cat doesn't eat as much and prefers to graze throughout the day and night. He's still at a healthy weight though.
It's gotten worse as of late because I recently moved to an apartment that's a small studio, and I no longer have a means to shut them out of my room when I go to bed. Seeing as food is the only thing that stops Sevi from keeping me up by chewing on things, swiping at the blinds, scraping her nails down the walls, and going for the kitchen trash, I started giving her some extra food before bed just so I could get a few extra hours of sleep. They still force me to feed them at 6am each morning.
Now she acts like she's starving nearly all the time. She now goes to the cabinet where her food is and tries to claw it open. Her passive aggressive not letting me sleep thing starts earlier.
Is there a way to get her back to a point where she isn't constantly expecting something to eat? I know feeding her more was a mistake, but it mainly started out of desperation for sleep after a few weeks.
