Had my cat for 5 years. He is lovely and loves us dearly, but he prefers to show us his love from a distance: with frequent eye blinks and sitting/sleeping at least a foot away from us with his back turned. He will spend most of his day either sleeping out of our sight or outside playing.
However, the weirdest thing happened last night. He was sleeping at the edge of my bed (as usual) and I was in a deep sleep myself. He usually doesn't stay longer than 2-4 hours but last night he slept a good amount without waking me up. What happened was when he DID wake up, instead of waking me to let him out, he came and snuggled right.next.to.my.face. And he let me sleep for another 2 hours. I was surprised. He has never done this before. I woke up to how loud his purring was and when I shifted position, he actually moved closer so he still had some contact with me.
It was the most precious thing ever but also the most peculiar. Why all of a sudden? Is this normal?
