Ethical Dilemma - Pet Store

Hi guys,

I made a mistake this weekend, by going into a pet store to pass sometime. I was hoping this place would be different.
My wife and I were going in purely to pass sometime. They had some puppies, including a Cavalier King Charles, our favorite breed. We held him, and obviously fell in love with his sweet and cute temperament. I asked about the puppy and it's parents. He comes from a 10 generational line of healthy parents, no congenital heart defects, and he is registered with APRI." When I researched the organization, I found some mixed responses. That it's kind of a mediocre regulator body to help ensure breeding standards, but it's become better in the last few years. I really don't like the premise of pet stores, they are there to purely make money, and the dogs suffer as a result. I was just hoping, being in Colorado, that maybe the standards were higher, and the places that actually sold dogs, would have higher ethical standards as far as obtaining their puppies and researching their breeders. It's called "Just Pets," if anyone out there knows of them or as dealt with them.

Now I feel bad for this puppy, and even if it did come from a mill, or some poor standard breeder, I feel responsible to save it. Please help inform me or enlighten on me on what I should do. I have reached out for some more information regarding the breeders of this puppy, and hopefully can have more information soon.
