So when I mean worried, I mean rabies.
She is an outdoor cat who comes in at night. I’d say around half and half. We have a large yard.
Anyway, my cat has been acting weird lately, and I’m worried cuz even in the winter she ain’t like that.
She’s been overly touchy, she isn’t a shy cat but it’s like over the top, even when she doesn’t want anything. She is 5yo and spayed so it’s not heat.
On top of that, she’s actually nipped at me once or twice out of nowhere. Like, It wasn’t like I even looked at the thing, she just came out of nowhere with it. Didn’t break the skin, but she hasn’t bitten anyone (playful or not) since she was a kitten in heat.
On top of that, she’s just been a little bit jumpy. She’ll just run from one side of the house to another and at times look scared when she looks at me, even though absolutely nothing has happened.
Should I be worried. I’ve been watching for foaming at the mouth but haven’t seen stuff. She’s taking fluids in okay. I go to pick her up and she seems fine then, but it’s like random flare ups.
I’ve been told to keep her in because of the weather, but I don’t know if the cat is just getting cooped up or what.
I should also note it’s not really my cat. It’s my grandparents and she hasn’t been to the vet in long time cuz my grandparents are old and idek just clueless imo cuz I don’t think she’s vaccinated for rabies and I’m always having to pull ticks off of her even if she gets sprayed for it.
What should i look for? Should I just take her to the vet regardless? How should I go about this?
