Is my cat one of the rarer cats that doesn't respond to Feliway?

Our cat is quite a bit on the anxious side. We recently moved too and it took a toll on him. He's frequently on the edge.

So we went through the trouble of ordering Feliway (they aren't sold in the country I live). I bought the plug-in diffuser and spray.

I didn't try the diffuser yet, but we tried to test his response with the spray.

I sprayed once to the chair he usually sits / sleeps in, he went smelled it once, surprisingly licked it once, got off and didn't touch the chair again. It's been 5 days. He normally spends a few hours on it every day, but now he completely abandoned it. He found a new place to sit / sleep in.

The spray, we actually bought because we were planning to spray his carrier when he needs to go to vet. All hell breaks loose when he needs to go to vet. He pees, and poops and is generally a mess. We thought maybe spraying his carrier (as instructed by the ads and vets) would probably calm him down a bit and make him feel safer. Now that we tested the spray at home, I'm not sure. He actively avoids the places we sprayed.

Now I'm partial in even plugging the diffuser in. I'll probably try eventually.

Do any of you have experience with the feliway classic spray? How did your cat respond to it?
