So to start off I got my baby, Leonidas, about a month and a half ago from a rescue. He’s 6.5 months old and honestly one of the sweetest and cuddliest cats I’ve ever met. I got him right before winter break started so that I would have a month of extra free time to get him adjusted and comfortable to his surrounding but I think this has made him EXTREMELY needy and dependent. Every time I’m home he has what I’m starting to think is a physical need to be next to me, which is very cute and sweet but can get frustrating at times. I’m a person who has to study in my room because distractions really interrupt my focus. The semester started 2 weeks ago and I’m getting into the swing of it which means I’m also not able to spend as much time with Leo. This has become an issue for him. Anytime I’m home and not focusing on him he is right next to me meowing. I’ve considered encouraging him to run for Congress because he could filibuster for days. I mostly try and ignore him because I’ve heard that will discourage meowing but I think it just angers him haha. He has several toys and I even tried purchasing a good amount of ones he can play with while alone. None are as good as quality time with mom, which is adorable but is also going to make me pull my hair out by the end of this semester. Moving him to another room is also unsatisfactory because he’ll still cry and then I feel bad and let him out. I’m sure it’s just a kitten thing he’ll grow out of but in the mean time I’m looking for any tips on how to study with cats.
