My kitten keeps peeing outside of the litter box and I don't know what to do.

I've raised cats before and have never had this problem.

I have a siamese mix that will be one in March, along with an eight-year-old maine coon mix. The kitten used to pee on anything when I first got her (she was 8 weeks old) and I realized it was because she didn't like the type of litter I was buying. I changed it and it seemed to be okay. But everyday my boyfriend and I are finding pee on different things like our clothes, papers that she or the other cat have knocked to the ground, and just anything she can pee on. I changed the litter to one of the crystal-types that absorb pee, as I thought she didn't want to go in the litter box with the pee clumps caused by other litters. I guess that's not working.

How can I address this behavior? We never see her actually peeing, and I think disciplining her after the fact is futile. She also usually does this on my boyfriend's stuff, and he's really pushing to get rid of her because of it. He actually picked her out, so she's technically more his than mine, but I want to avoid giving her up if I can.
