What do you think about dog breeding? Does your opinion change at all when talking about breeding things like chicken, alpacas, cows, horses or whatever other types of animals people keep rather than about breeding dogs?

At least in America, there seems to be strong opinions on dog breeding as well as neutering/spaying. It seems like no matter if you have strong opinions for or against it or are somewhere in the middle, pretty much no one seems to care at all when it comes to other animals that people keep and probably haven't given it much if any thought.

By asking this, I am not trying to argue for or against any of it on either side of things or say that I would have any part in breeding or neutering/spaying or not neutering/spaying. I am just curious what your thoughts are on it.

I guess a big reason why I am asking is that you always hear somthing like "don't breed your dog, adopt" or something about neutering/spaying. You may also hear it often with cats although I haven't heard it as much about cats as I have with dogs. As far as every other animal people keep, I have never heard anything about it. It is like it is completely ignored even if there are a lot of that specific type of animal.

I guess another thing for why I am asking is that many people think that only a dog that comes in top at things like dog shows should be bred even though the "purebred" dogs are sort of unnatural and are pretty much a recent creation as well as having a few genetic flaws in at least some breeds that could be fixed with crossbreeding if allowed, but it won't be allowed by the people running things like the AKC.
