Why is my cat peeing on things?

I adopted my cat, Emy, less than a year ago. She is a 5 year old Tortoiseshell that is very loving. I had her in my apartment for about 4 months with no problems except that my roommates boyfriend was very very allergic. It caused a lot of stress in the house so I decided to take my cat to my moms house. During the time Emy was at my apartment she only once peed outside her litter box once, and it was very close by to it. I had recently put a door on her litter box to keep the smell out but as soon as I took it off she didn’t have any more accidents.

Well at my moms house she has another cat, M&M, who’s been in the house for about 8 years. We slowly introduced both cats together starting off isolating them, and having them eat together. They are now pretty good friends, smelling and playing with each other!

Well we have had a number of problems with my cat Emy, peeing in my room. She first peed on the middle of my bed which my mom believed to be because her cat, M&M, had pooped on my bed after being stuck in there for 20 hours (moms getting forgetful these days). She dry-cleaned my comforter and didn’t have a problem. The next time she peed on my bed, I had bought a scented litter without my knowing and my mom was quick to tell me to change the litter. We did so and now have the unscented litter.

Well she has peed on my bed twice since the change back and my mom just does not know why. We also aren’t even sure if it is my cat as we haven’t caught either cat doing so.

I’m trying to figure out what to do because today I found cat pee on my jacket and my mom told me if she starts to pee on my carpet we will have to take her back to the shelter. Please let me know if you have any input or similar experiences!!
