Due to an unfortunate house situation I will be permanently taking in my friends cat as he won’t be able to afford it anymore. How do I go about changing the registration on the microchip?

Basically title, whenever I have gotten a cat before I’ve never had to change the microchip or who it’s registered too, how does one go about doing this?
