Hey guys,
So I am a college student with a lot of free time (went sober, hit the gym regularly but still got time to spare). I had some incidents with some close friends where I felt a little betrayed. Plus, our center of interests have changed. It's very hard on me psychologically because I invested so much in those guys and would have done anything for them but they couldn't do the same for me ( not going too much into details sorry). Now, I still see them but I am in a very sad place where I feel nobody is worth it. The problem is that I am quite emotional for a guy. I am not a friendly to everybody but I like to connect with people if they seem interesting enough, and nurture this friendship to new levels. A post on reddit said 'if you want a companion, get a dog!'. Never thought about it before. My mom hates animals. I've never thought about them, but I am living on my own right now, and a dog is so friendly. I go run every morning when I don't go the gym. In addition, ever since I stopped cigarets, I really need something to get me out of the house frequently. I think I am being too idealistic, but I am really ready to take care of him, just needs to be able to live in an apartment.
I don't know if the dog can help me get rid of this emotional tension so I can focus on my studies. Right now, I need to go drinking with the guys or parties even though I don't extremely enjoy it. Anyway, what do you guys think? Anybody dog helped them feel loved and appreciated and lessened the need of other people?
