I've had my cat for 6 years, she's about 7, she was a stray who used to be an outdoor cat until I rescued her. I live on a bottom story apartment, I'll let her out for a bit but she never stays out long. She's super attached to me and ALWAYS comes when I call. I live in a block where there's no way for her to get to the street without going through someones house so I feel pretty safe doing it.
I was out of town this week and my boyfriend accidentally let her out and she wouldn't come in for him. She wouldn't even show herself. This was Wednesday . I got home this morning and immediately found her, she was in the yard next door but she won't come in !! She looked so freaked. Her eyes were huge and she wouldn't let me pick her up and she took off to another yard I can't get to. They're not home or not answering. I know she's safe and not going anywhere but it's hot and I want my cat inside. This is the longest she's been outside for years. Also, there were a bunch of feral cats yowling and blocking her way a bit. She didn't want to get too close to them.
How do I get her in? I've just been calling and shaking her food for an hour. I feel awful my baby is scared. I guess she's really mad at me for leaving her and then letting her stay out for days. Should I just calm down and let her come to me?
