My one year old cat is sick and I'm at a loss.

Yesterday I came home for lunch and my cat Katie didnt greet me at the door like she normally does, I found her in the hall laying on her back acting like she just woke up from a long nap. I thought it was strange but didnt think too much of it.

I got home from work a couple hours later and she again didnt greet me at the door and I noticed she still hadn't touched her food.

I found her hiding in my husband's closet and she was limp and burning up. I carried her down stairs and called her vet right away. When she was on the floor she tried to stand and had a difficult time walking, she was limping / dragging her back legs and was really weak.

After four hours in the animal ER she was given fluids for a fever of 105.7 and medication for inflammation. I was told to monitor her for a couple days and then bring her back if nothing changes. They sent me home with opioid medication to help keep her comfortable.

Today she is being lazy. I had to bring her to the food, which she didnt eat but she drank a bit of kitty gravy mixed with water. And I had to put her in her litter box, but it was like she forgot how to use it. I had to physically help her squat to keep her up.

She is my first cat in my adult life and I'm at a loss of what to do. I dont want to seem like I'm over reacting by rushing her to the vet again but I also dont want to lose her if its something treatable.

Her breathing and heartrate is better today than it was last night but that could be the medication. And she doesnt seem to be in any pain. She is still warm though.

Should I keep on monitoring her for a few days like recommended or should I take her back so the vet can keep her overnight and monitor her there?

If I keep her at home, how do I keep her comfortable, is there more ways I can encourage her to eat / drink? Should I keep her in a warm environment for the fever or a cool environment?
