Need help coping with a loss of my dog

Today, out of nowhere, my 2 year old French bulldog angus got heat stroke and we decided to put him down after taking him to the vet after trying to cool him and calm him down at home, he suffered from loss of vision, loss of autonomy, and kidney and organ failure, and a lot of other horrible symptoms that would result in uncomfortable living conditions for the poor guy. I feel bad because I feel like he was suffering and I did nothing at home to help and before this happened I was sometimes not nice to him, but I hope he knew I cared about him all the time even through the bad. Thanks for listening.
