I am looking for a natural, clumping kitty litter. I keep hearing how horrible the most common clay litter is bad for cats, etc. I tried some pine pellets and I did not like it. I tried Okocat litter and so far I'm not sure if it will work out for us. It seems to be too lightweight where when she digs, little pieces will end up on her head/back.
I'm really trying to achieve safe/natural/odor control, and, low tracking but not super lightweight where it ends up getting on my kitty. I know it's a tall order for a litter but as I said, I am getting overwhelmed with all of the options and I don't want to keep trying random litters and confusing her to the point where she may not want to end up using the litter box.
So, ideally, I am looking for clumping litter that is natural and controls odor well that is maybe the same consistency/weight as clay litter. Does anyone have any insight?
And is clay really that terrible for cats? I am currently using Tidy Cats, but I am seeing all kinds of "Tidy Cats caused my cat respiratory problems!" "Tidy Cats killed my cat!" posts and it worries me that clay really is as bad as they say...so if anyone has any reputable sources/articles about how clay littler is actually OKAY for your cat...I'm interested in that too as I do think the clay clumping litter I have been using works the best.
