Looking for previous experiences or advice on cat introductions.
Resident cat (female, 3 years) hates our new kitten. We did all the steps slowly (separate rooms, changing items, changing places, door cracked, feeding them together, etc) but everything we have tried comes with growling. The kitten has never squealed in pain but resident cat will growl, hiss, and slap her on the head. Resident cat does not play unless kitten is in another room. We have had the kitten for 11 weeks and she is a little bit over 4 months. We realize they will probably never be friends given resident cat has gotten along with cats in the past. At this point I think we need a Hail Mary - any suggestions?
