There’s a cat on my porch and I’m worried he’s trapped

There is a cat on my porch; I’m not sure how he got up there (I’m on the second floor and there are no stairs or ways to access it from the ground), and I’m afraid he’s stuck because he’s been there all day. I’ve fed him and given him water, and I contacted my local spca about their trap-neuter-return program but they haven’t gotten back to me and I’m worried about him. I hate to catch him just to release him without having gone through the TNR program, but I also am nervous to wait too long if he is in fact trapped! It’s about a 10 foot drop at least if he were to jump off. If I decided to interfere, I would have to trap him manually in a cat carrier and then walk him through my house to release him outside, which I’m not thrilled to do because of my very territorial house cat who I know will freak out if she smells and hears another cat in the house. It seems like a waste to have caught him and not take him to get neutered and vaccinated, but I can’t trap him and hold onto him indefinitely until I can get an appointment and there is a bit of a time pressure involved if he’s stuck on the porch. Maybe he just likes it there and I there’s no need for me to do anything? He doesn’t seem to be in distress, but it’s weird that he’s just been there all day and he did poop on the porch, which doesn’t seem like something a cat would normally do. I’m not even sure if this is the right sub to be asking this because he isn’t my pet, I’m just nervous I’m going to look out tomorrow and find him dead or something and I would hate myself if it was because I didn’t do the right thing. Any insight or ideas??
