Anyone else experienced shady characters while adopting a cat?

Hi yall.

First Reddit post so I'm sorry if I f*ck anything up #noob

I was browsing on Gumtree and saw an ad for a 3 month old kitten. I called the woman and organised to meet the kitten. I noticed the kitten was pretty big for a 3 month old but the lady had assured me the kitten was 12 weeks old so I decided to take her home on a trial basis to see how she would adapt with my Resident Cat.

Fast forward 24 hours after bringing this kitten home, the transition was going okay and so I wanted to order a personalised tag for the new kitten so I asked the woman for the date of birth of the kitten. The lady then told me she was born in January 2019 and that she had bottle fed her from when she was young and apologised for not telling the truth. I then asked her if the cat was desexed because if it wasn't, it would be sure to be in heat soon enough. The lady then told me the cat was not yet spayed as she is currently unemployed.

The lady offered to take the kitten back until I could organise to get her spayed. I left the cat in my brand new cat carrier and I told her my Dad would be home to let her in. She took my carrier with her and told me she would drop it off after work (even though she's unemployed atm?) and now won't answer my texts/calls and I don't know what else to do but laugh at this f*ckery of a situation like wtf?

Anyone else got some stories about shady MF'ers when it comes to pets?
