Calm and very non aggresive pet cat goes feral on new kitten !

I have 15 cats in my apartment on the 4th floor , one of which is extremely nice to strangers - humans and animals - he never hisses or hits any other cat - generally a very calm and cute cat .

Now we brought in this poor kitten about 2 months old who was dying of dehydration and hunger , she's ok now , shes very calm towards people but kind of scared of other cats .

We kept her isolated for about a week until she was better and we made sure she wasnt sick , after about a week of her being able to walk around the same area as the rest do , the older cat suddenly starts hunting her ! Not in the playful way cats usually do - he stalked and attacked her ! Just now after about a week of just kind of hitting her with his paw when he did catch up to her despite our best efforts - he just caught from her back , and with his rear legs he started scratching her exactly like all of those wildlife documentaries i've seen ! We managed to save her but moments later the older cat tried to sneak back to where he knew she was ..

Why is he suddenly borderline murderous , when hes seen 13 other cats come into the house in all different ages and shapes ? I've had cats for the past 20 years of my life and I havent seen anything like this before .. We're trying to find the kitten a new home but I doubt we'll find anything especially with how many cats we've tried giving away still remain ..

Thanks for any help in advance ! I'll gladly answer any followup questions
