Foster cat still hiding and hissing, only comes out when everyone is sleeping

I’m a first time fosterer and brought the cat home on Friday 2 August. He’s living in a guest bedroom in the house. After initially hiding under the chest of drawers, while I was sleeping he managed to get the wardrobe door open and has been hiding in there ever since. He comes out when I’m sleeping to eat, drink and toilet but otherwise stays in the wardrobe all the time, even when no one is home all day (I assume this because he doesn’t eat, drink etc during the day at all). I sit in the room a few times each day and talk to him and generally do other things, and I look at him in the wardrobe and talk to him a bit. He usually just hisses at me and doesn’t move. He needs to go back to the organisation I am fostering for this Friday (16 August) and I’m concerned that he will still be in the wardrobe and I’m going to have a difficult time trying to get him out and into his cage. His claws are obviously pretty sharp as he’s scratched up the windowsill leaping up and down each night. I welcome any and all suggestions!
