Hi there, fairly new to reddit (first post). Our family has had Lulu (pit bull mix/mutt) for 15 years this September. We’ve had her since she was 3 weeks old (the mother stopped feeding pups), we had to bottle/spoon feed her and loved every minute of it. She’s our baby! We live out in the country - lots of room to roam. We’ve noticed her eyesight getting bad the last month or two; but she has completely lost her sight in the last 5 days. Her back legs are shaky and frequently ‘give out’ (she picks herself up again - more slowly each time). She’s been steadily bumping into stuff...getting worse day by day. We are helping her up and down from the couch(we had to stop taking her to our bed where she regularly slept - for the fear of falling out of bed or down the stairs) taking her on leash in the yard (I like to call us her “seeing eye people”). Lulu has been such a fabulous family dog for us; I really want to do right by her - she’s given our family and friends so many fabulous memories.
We’re trying to make everything as comfortable as we can for her. We don’t think she’s in any physical pain, and there’s not too much that we wouldn’t do to make this awesome dogs life a bit more comfortable. Hoping you can give us some suggestions to make the rest of her time with us ‘the absolute best’!
Thanks in advance - Lovers of Lulu ❤️
