I have separation anxiety from my hamster

This may seem strange but I've developed seperation anxiety from my hamster. To give a little backstory, last year I had another hamster that I'd had for about 3 years, and I went on holiday so I had to leave him with a friend as I wasn't in the country. A while into my holiday, my friend called and told me as soon as I left my hamster became what seemed to be upset and he died a couple of days later. Also, this year has been very tough for me as I went through a lot in school that made my parents decide to homeschool me and my hamster has made me feel a lot better, as I have a total of about 3 friends and only one of them lives in the same country as I do. And this year, during Christmas my parents and I are going to visit some family in another country and I don't think that I'm allowed to bring a hamster with me on a train passed the border. Because of this I have a lot of anxiety, as I don't want to leave him alone and have grown very attached to him (even more then the last one). It seems I can't find any information on either transporting him or how to deal with it. This may seem stupid but I am a very anxious and over thinking person, so this makes me anxious and not want to go. Does anyone have any advice?
