I live in a four-bedroom house in the city with two other people, we're between 4th roommates at the moment. One of my roommates has been here for eight years and has two indoor/outdoor cats, and the other one has been here for about five months and has decided they want a puppy. This makes me anxious for a few reasons, but I've never owned a pet so I'm looking for advice to help me navigate the situation gracefully. I'm primarily worried because the roommate in question has needed to borrow money to help pay for rent before, and no one else has time to take care of an animal. I'm also worried about how the cats will react to a new animal in the house. I can't remember what kind of dog my roommate wants, I think a cockapoo? I know they want a small dog.
