Old dog suddenly hyper?

Hi all, just need a bit of advice. (please remove if in the wrong place!)

I have a jack russell terrier female. She's around 12 years old and has her fair share of problems. She has very poor eyesight (cloudy eyes!) and hearing, and she can only walk for about 15 minutes around the block before she starts limping and has to go home (arthritis).

For the past couple of years, she hasn't done much except eat, sleep, pee, sleep, walk, sleep and repeat. We put it down to old age and poor eyesight, but all of a sudden she's become like her old young self, running around the house and back yard like mad and being playful for around 10-15 minutes before calming down. She hasn't been like this for the past three years, so it is nice to see she can still bolt about.

My question is: is this change in behaviour normal and should I worry? It's late at night at the time of posting so I can't take her to a vet, and my mother keeps making comments of "she's not getting ready to die, is she?" because my grandmother kept making playful jibes about her age.

Any help and advice would be fantastic!
