Hi everyone. I'm posting this in concern over my dog. I didn't see anything against this in the rules, but if this post isn't allowed, I apologize in advance. Also, this is my first time dealing with this, so excuse me if this is all over the place.
Also posting this from my phone, so please excuse any errors.
I have a 6.5 year old Tibetan Terrier/Briard mix. He is a rescue. He weighs maybe about 45 lbs. He was diagnosed with an autoimmune disease, and is on medication that causes weight gain (my parents and I are watching his food intake).
On top of the autoimmune disease, he ended up having an infection in his toe bone (digit 5) and had to have it amputated, to keep the infection from spreading.
Have any pet owners here had a dog whose toe had to be amputated? How did it go? How long was the healing process? He is limping around in three legs, as he shouldn't be putting any weight on the amputation sight. How long before he can use all four legs?
I just hate seeing him limping, and I just want recovery to go smoothly. Any insight/advice is greatly appreciated.
