Hi!
My cat absolutely H A T E S her soft-sided carrier and will not go into it. She's smart enough to not fall for treats or toys in the carrier anymore, so I'm looking for alternative carrier types and would appreciate input on a couple of choices. This would be for taking her to/from the vet and not just to take her outdoors. I live in a big city with a lot of noise outside and I walk to the vet's office, so I'd like to make the trip as comfortable as possible for her.
My main issue with the current soft-sided carrier is that my cat can slip out while I'm zipping up the front flap, even if I turn the carrier on its back and try to lower her in from above. It's the lack of security in holding the flap closed while I zip the cover that's the issue (if I can get her in...which is the first biggest issue).
- Pet stroller: this seems like a great option because it could make transportation to/from the vet smoother, as my cat does not like being picked up and carried. Plus, I could put her in the stroller and lower the cover quickly to prevent her from escaping. However, I'm reading some reviews for otherwise solid options that indicate that there are small "holes" or areas where the top of the carrier (the cover) is not secured to the main carriage part where the cat sits, which means my slippery cat could potentially squeeze out since the stroller is fabric. Perhaps safety pins could fix this but I'm not entirely sure.
- Hard-sided carrier: this makes sense in that once I get her in the carrier, I just need to shut the door or put the top on, and there's no room for her to squeeze her way out. However, this carrier might not be as comfortable, and I'd have to walk with it, which I'm sure she doesn't like.
The two most important factors are comfort for my cat and ease of securing her in the carrier, and each option seems to provide one of each. For anyone with cats who are hard to get into carriers, what has worked for you?
Thanks in advance for any input and advice!
