Our 14 year old cat had a mammary tumor removed 3 months ago and unfortunately she has a new tumor growing close to one of her front legs. We've agreed with the veterinary that we wouldn't remove this new tumor and we are now prepared to let her go, but as she still hasn't shown any signs of being in any kind of pain or discomfort we've decided to wait patiently and to try to make her life as enjoyable as possible in the meantime.
Now the current issue - we will both be out for 4 days starting tomorrow morning, then back for 2 days then away for 5 days again (We have 2 people coming to care for her during all these days we will be out) - and I'm now starting to think she might showing the first signs of being in some kind of trouble... Although she has been eating well, she's been quite lazy for last 2 days (not uncommon, but I'm a bit more sensitive about this now), and I think she might be having some trouble breathing (see video). I asked the vet and they said it was very hard to say, and I won't take her there as its always a very stressful experience.
I'm freaking out a bit as we won't be with her for the next 4 days. Looking at that video, does it look like she's in pain ? Should I give her the painkillers the vet gave us ? Should we start preparing for for more urgent interventions during the few days we'll be back next week ?
All opinions are welcome.
