So my cat (Cosmo) and I were inseparable since we adopted him 3 years ago, he is super skittish and was also super dependent on me (would meow at me for permission to eat, always have to be around me etc.) About 5 months ago i had to move away from home, i never got the chance to see him during this time and have been super worried about him, though yesterday i finally got to come home.
While i wish there was a heartwarming reunion, Cosmo who would usually love me to pieces instantly ran under a couch and didn’t leave once he saw me. It really broke my heart because i know that’s how he acts around people he doesn’t recognise. There’s nothing i love more than him and i hate the feeling that he’s grown apart from me or something like that.
Does anyone know if it’ll ever be possible for me to get back to how i was with him? I’m still not living at home with him which breaks my heart even more, knowing i won’t be able to try and rebuild our friendship for a long time...
