This just happened about 30 minutes ago and I am pretty excited and wanted to share with you all.
I was walking with my cat, yes we trained our cat to walk outside on a leash, and I see a dude running around and whistling. He looked nervous and really worried. Apparently, he was taking a shower and his dog (white, 70 lbs) opened the door and ran away. And the dude literally just moved in, he said. I didn’t say anything, but I noticed a couple behind him looking for his dog as well.
I finished walking my cat right away and decided I will drive around the neighborhood and look for his dog. My heart got uneasy knowing that the dog will run away and will get lost forever.
I am driving for about 10 minutes and I see a big white dog running on a sidewalk, looking nervous and lost. At that moment I knew I found the dog. For a second, I wasn’t sure if it was the right dog as it looked somewhat skinny and had dirt all over his face. I got really happy, introduced myself to the dog, got the dog in my car and slowly drove back. I see that couple again and ask if they know where the dude lives. They get in my car and as we are pulling out from the exit, we see the dude in the car pulling in. I honk at him and wave. He sees the dog, his eyes get big and he says “no way” really loudly through his window haha.
Anyway, moral of the story, sometimes if you see someone in distress please help them out, especially if time is of essence. By me driving around, we increased the chances of finding the dog by 33%. Lost pets don’t just sit and wait for you to come find them. They run and they run further and further every minute.
You all take care of your pets. Lock them doors, keep them on a leash. They are our family and they bring us joy.
