introducing 2 cats (over a year old) to resident cat ( 6ish month old kitten)
background: so we have a kitten who is about 6 months old and has lived with us in my fiancĂ© and my apartment since she was about a month old. we saved her from a fence at his workplace and she’s very laid back and essentially a lap cat in the making if not like a rag doll. she doesn’t really claw at anyone and doesn’t hiss (least for the last 5 months) we attempted to introduce a kitten that was younger (1 month ish) to her when she was about 2 months and she did not take to it at all. She was hissing for days and fighting and if she wasn’t going claws out the new kitten tried to go after her, we ended up giving the new kitten up to family friends that have no cats but has had them before and knows how to handle them. ( also due to how young he was we didn’t have the time to nurse the kitten to good health )
now: we have two new but over a year old cats that we adopted from a friend of a friend that can no longer take care of them. they were a bonded pair and we felt bad separating them since they were litter mates ( also it was 7 hour drive total to adopt them there and back). they’ve been here over night and are still very to themselves not even so much each other, Luciel (our resident cat and baby) hasn’t hissed at any of them has batted them if they got too close but no claws, but they are more hissy towards her. she’s been keeping a good distance to them but tries to bond with them often she usually trails them. they haven’t eaten yet and to our knowledge only one used the litter box so far but we’re chalking it up to stress of a new environment and that the territory is a kitten’s. i’ve taken to occasionally pick up luciel and separate her so they can explore a little so they don’t hide in a corner, and luciel has no problem relaxing for a while, i just want advice on i guess helping the transition.
