Hi! Neurotic new cat mom here! I adopted my 10-year old girl three weeks ago. She’s still very unsure about me and typically does not like hanging out in the same room as me. The past couple nights I’ve been sleeping with my bedroom door open so she can enter and exist as she pleases. Last night, I was still awake and my cat came into the same room as me willingly for the first time to climb on my desk and look out the window. She noticed me and ran out of the room, but a few minutes later she came back in and meowed at me. I finally decided to shut the light off and go to bed, but she came back a third time and this time she was making so much noise (meowing, jumping on and off my desk). I shifted in my bed and she immediately bolted out of my room. It was late and I had work this morning so after she bolted out I closed the door so I could get to sleep.
Was this cruel? Did I mess up a huge step in our relationship? She NEVER chose to come into a room I was in before last night but she made so much noise that I couldn’t sleep. Any insight/advice?
